harlow grace franklin
witch earth element
When Harlow was thirteen years old; as a right of passage her mother and aunt lola took her to the woods and showed her what she had known all the years prior. She was a witch, and not any witch, she was a witch tied to the well being of the forrest. As they went over everything she would be responsible for the dusk fell and they began a right of passage ritual. It was cold. Harlow could see her breath form before her. She grabbed her mothers hand and her aunt closed her eyes. The heightened sense of everything around them - she heard them first.

The rest of the story would be many years before she could tell. On a cold January day, shortly after sweet Harlow turned thirteen years old. She lost both her mother, her aunt, and her father. He tried to stop the vampires before they got to the girls; however he could not. As he was purely mortal. No gifts. Just a pharmacist from New Jersey who fell in love with a bewitching blonde and uprooted his life.

Harlow was forced to move in with her mother's best friend, was formally adopted. She however, surpressed her witch side as much as she could. She attempted to blend in High School, she followed it with College. On her 23rd birthday, as she was exiting the hospital she heard the cries of a small doe. Looking around, she was bewildered, why would there be a deer so close to the city? Noticing the forest range roughly 90 yards away. There she lay. A hunter had gotten her. Without thinking, she began whispering over and over again an spell she had always heard her mother say over the garden. As if a day had not passed, Harlow healed the small animal and wished it well back into the wild. From this day forward, she tried in small doses to embrace who she was. She would find herself making up small incantations to help the children in her hospital. Things to help them sleep, or to ease their minds of their parents. She found this wore her out more. A twelve hour shift with spells was starting to feel more like a sixteen hour shift on no sleep. Eventually, she saved the words for those who truly needed it. Any personal gain from spells had a kick back. She wasn't ready for that.

Though she had changed - she had never taken her off her ring. It was the last link she had to her family. Her mother. Who she was deep down. She was, and will always be a Franklin witch. From that day on, she began reading and catching up on witchcraft and the things that were possible. It seemed limitless. However, her fear of being cast into the light; and vampires finding out who she truly was has kept her from ever publicly claiming her rightful life. As it is hard to sometimes tell the difference in vampires since they call all have daylight rings. She developed a test upon shaking the hands of her new friends. As long as the ring on her index finger stayed black, she was in the clear to keep these people in her life.

At twenty-six, she is a full time RN nurse rebuilding her parents home. It was willed too her; and until recently she couldn't bring herself to go back to it. Something was drawing her there. She is a kind soul. She wears her heart on her sleeve. She has a very hard time trusting anyone. She has been married. She has had a series of short lived relationships. She is living life one day at a time. Trying to make small differences in the world.

strengths: because she is of the earth element. she draws her magic naturally from the ground itself. she finds great comfort in working with plants and animals; she treats all natural things like they are a living soul. she has a natural gift to heal all things. she also has the gift of empathy - she can feel what others feel if they're not cloaked by magic. she is telekenetic. she dabbles with minor potions and herbology. she is a very resourceful witch as she spends much time reading.

weaknesses: as she does not reside within a coven and her parents died at a young age - she is not terribly advanced and she is self taught. most of her witchcraft is all trial and error. if she does not draw from her element she gets very fatigued very fast.
